service engine light, no codes?

The service engine light came on on my 1995 D90. It has 43,950 miles on it and seems to be running fine. Is this one of those service engine lights just to get you into the dealer so they can charge you to basically reset a light or should I keep looking for a problem?

If it's the red light, it's easy enough to turn off, if it's a yellow light, maybe so, maybe no.

service engine light- service reminder check engine light-something is wrong to reset the service light there is a brown relay behind the gauge cluster with a small hole in the bottom.put a paper clip in that hole to reset light.

The speedometer just broke the same morning. Could this be linked since the relay is behind the instrument cluster.

It's the red service engine light.

There is only one way way to find out and four bolts.take it out and look.it could have hit it but i don't think so.there is no logic when it comes to rover failures
