I have searched the board and I seem to get a lot of mixed results on the first steps with my problem. I think I have confused myself now with all I have read. Here are my error codes:
p0174
p0150
p0159(new)
p01174

Symptoms:
a bit of a rough idle
exhaust stinks
poor gas mileage

Year: 2003 Disco II SE7
mileage: 95K

To my knowledge oxygen sensors or MAF has not been replaced. I am second owner since 45K miles. I am not sure if I should replace o2 sensors or replace MAF first or if something else should be done. I read that sometimes a bad MAF can make the 02 sensors read bad when they really arent. Just looking for where to start with these error codes.

I found this exact problem but no resolve:

Any help much appreciated!!!!!!

Also is it hard on my engine to drive it like this???? thx again

Im not much on codes BUT.

As for your Service Engine Soon Light. Click the TECH link at the top of this site. You'll find how to reset that. Thought remember to keep your key off. I didn't and my blinkers went off like crazy and would not stop. I finally just pulled the whole red box. No more Service Engine Soon Light EVER..

Now if you really meant Check Engine Light thats a whole other matter.

Tonight I cleaned the MAF(not terribly dirty), checked for any vacuum leaks(could not hear any), cleaned the air filter and pulled out the front right oxygen sensor and cleaned and tested it(was reading correctly). Drove about 5 miles and the p0150 error code has come on so far. It did seem to idle a little better, but the exhaust was still abnormally stinky

I am not sure what is causing the issue. I really don't think its the MAF but feel the oxygen sensor is a symptom not the cause.

Any thoughts?

I hear the MAFS on the DIIs need replacing and dont "clean" very well, As for the DI's there supposed to be built better and "Clean" better.

That is good news.

Thank you for reporting back on the success of what cured the offending behavior.

Hopefully the sensor replacement will have done it.

Did you replace both?

I recently had a rough idle and the service engine soon light came on. Brought it to the dealer for warranty coverage. I was told my head gaskets were leaking and that the engine was misfiring. In addition there was a slipped sleeve in the #5 cylinder I believe. I'll be getting a new short block basically. Truck has around 53K miles. Hope this isn't your issue.

Well 800 miles and no new codes so I think I am in the clear. Looks like for me it was just the O2 Sensor. Just reporting back in case someone can find this useful later.

Thanks!!
