I don't get what the big deal is.
Dweb, to me, has always been what it is. I come here because of what it is. I'm on other forums(D90, LRF LRO) but they're different. They don't have the same feel.
I thought Dweb has always been proud of its self moderation. You'll get brutal honesty here. The thin skinned get weeded out. The loud mouths get told to STFU.

Take this thread for example. Its in the General section so I don't read it with the expectation of anything but entertainment. Dan and Kenny get to sword fighting(again) and people here tell them to give it a rest or get a room. Yes the thread has deviated from the original content but really, how much can people say about a stupid Jeep shitter pipe snorkel?? This thread would have been dead pages ago if not for the "characters" on the board.

I could argue that CBRwhatever's thread should be moved to the Trips section, but who really cares?

Dweb's problem is one of LR community and society. The amount of people that actually do anything with their Rovers is dwindling. D1's, D2's, and RRC's numbers are shrinking. Participation on LRO and LRF is down. D90 Source is an anomaly because D90 numbers in the US are greater than the amount actually made for this market.

Clubs are suffering too, and the main reason is nobody participates and even fewer step up to take lead. I don't blame them for not doing the Conclave this year. Planning events is a PITA and then people just complain. I tried to plan the Midwest Rover Rally and asked for help from 3 different clubs and got shit. Nobody lifted a finger. So I said fuck it. For 3 years I used to basically run the CLRC. Planned all the meetings and organized everything. I stepped away this year and despite there being other officers nothing gets done. No one wants to do anything.

I've known for some time now that this world is make up of two kinds of people. People that do shit and people that talk about doing shit. I've always been at the extreme end of doing shit. I didn't want to be a leader but my desire to do shit necessitated me planning stuff.

My point is nobody does shit and our trucks are becoming more and more obsolete. Facebook isn't helping either. A lot of people do their socializing and even tech on Facebook now.

I don't think Dweb needs to change to remain viable. It will be around as long as the people want it.

My 2 cents worth, not that anyone gives a shit, is that Dweb is my 99% solution when it comes to getting things fixed, finding relevant information about my trucks, and interacting with like minded people.

Back when I had a job that allowed me lots of time to fuck off on this site I enjoyed the banter and participated a bit, but now I can only find a few open minutes during the day to check the new posts and see if there is anything interesting going on.

I will say that the banter has seemed to have died down somewhat significantly from when I first joined, but that's not why I come here. It is/was a nice distraction though.

One thing I have noticed is that it seems hard to get any kind of group together to do "roverish" kind of things especially in my area of costal NC. At least from my point of view, which is rather limited.

Anyways, go fuck yourself.

All you have to do is mention Kenny's name and he goes on a rant. That's why he lives in his moms basement - he can't be intermixed with the public. It's the whole loud noises thing. You can say something like "Kenny ate an apple today", and he'd go on a 12 paragraph rant about how apples are the devil and somehow figure out a way to include the subject of dog breeding.

I don't rant, I lose track of how long I've been typing. Either way, it's ostriches. Dogs are old hat.

Don't you keep up to date on such important matters?

Cheers,

Kennith

When I hit trails with other vehicles, it's generally with Nissans and Jeeps. They're always out doing something, so it's easy to just go when I want. I make a call, and people go wheeling.

Most of the time I go, though, it's either by myself or with only one other vehicle. I go to trails to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Events don't have to be Land Rover exclusive. Maybe you could pull more Rover owners if you grab a bigger crowd by hitching up with some Toyotas or Jeeps for an event.

At this point I must either decide whether to let it continue to fester, make major changes to improve the quality of discussion, or just ditch the fucking thing entirely.

I'm not interested in offers to buy the site nor am I looking for new moderators so please stop PM'ing.

Hows about starting a poll? lol

Long time reader, posted maybe once. I'm rich, handsome and liberal so you folks wouldn't like me much.

I do enjoy the technical posts, and some posters are often very funny.

This Kenny/Danny fight is lame. Reminds me of fights in junior high between 2 fat kids. At first it is funny but after 5 minutes they are basically lying on top of one another huffing and panting and showing ass cracks.

Nothing wrong with being rich and handsome. I salute that lifestyle! :patriot:

There's nothing wrong with being a liberal, either. I mean, you're going to be wrong a lot, but it's not like you're from Canada or anything, right? :D

Pipe in, man. Ask questions, give answers; don't feel excluded just because you believe you might have an unpopular opinion. Many of us are far more liberal in some areas than we appear at first glance.

If there isn't at least one person in the room that disagrees with you, you're in the wrong fucking room. The same goes for money and knowledge. There should always be someone around who's got something on you.

If not, you're not learning anything.

Cheers,

Kennith

There isn't anything to do to get new members in a large quantity. Forums are not the cutting edge of social media/technology.

What are you talking about? Forums are the new thing:

I don't remember that being so much of a pain in the ass...

were you at the spring uwharrie Safari when I threatened to beat up a jeep guys wife if they didn't put their dog in the tent? I think the stuff that went on in the early 2000's would not be appreciated nowadays. At all.

I try not to go south of Richmond.

Chris, I think you have only improved the forum. Since you've taken over I've noticed the increase in posts.
