Shock or spring issue?

I have a 2000 Disco II with 121k miles. Bought it used with one owner @ 56K miles. Yesterday we went for a beach camp and suddenly my wife notice the rear passenger side was all the way down when parked in the sand. I moved it to the pavement and it went back to normal. Could it be the spring or damper (as rave would say)? Only the rear passenger side though the rest are fine. Just making sure it's the shock before I change all of them. Thanks in advanced.

Do you have airbags in the rear? (I know, that just sounds wrong). A spring or shock will not collapse and then return to "normal". One of your bags may have deflated when parked in the sand. Open up your wallet or start looking at a spring conversion.

You are right, I do have an air bag spring not the coil. Is it stil lsafe to drive? How much is the estimate for those conversion? I know my P38 conversion cost $1500 for the four. Thanks.

If this is the first time it happened, and it seems normal now, it may have just been a glitch. However, my wife's D2 started like that, but got progressively worse, until it completely collapsed in the dead of winter when she was picking me up from the hospital. 50 miles home, still driveable, just a little rough. She was in love with the airbags and didn't want to go to springs, but after a week of troubleshooting and the possibility of big $ to repair, she signed on for the conversion. Very easy and cheap to do and unless you have some serious weight on the hitch, you can't tell the difference. Buy the hardware kit from AB or the like and find someone here or online who just put a lift on their D2 and have no use for the old springs. I got mine for just the cost of shipping. Total cost including the SLABS re-program was less than 150.00.
