Ok so I called the shop today and am ordering ome shocks and springs, I want to know what you guys thinks I need to get model wise on the ome springs and shocks, strength and such wise. I am going for a 2 or near there height gain. Preferably not any more then that. I have a winch coming in that weighs 80 pounds and a front bumper in the future budget. In back not much, maybe a nicer rear bumper but not any expedition stuff, just towing a small boat or jet ski. So here we go.

Thanks for the advice,
Mike

Yeah I was going to but after some research I have heard ome doesnt lift it so much and I'm going for moderate lift.

Mike, do yourself a favor and call Rovertym. Talk to Steve and he will set you up with precisely what you're looking for in a lift.

here Russ I fixed it for you...figured if I turned it up maybe Mike will hear you.:D

THOM... thats pretty funny... my question is if he want to run with Sway Bars or not. does he pack like INSANE LANE?????? My point is springs soften and normal EMU shocks just wear out over time... If I were to do it again, heavier springs and adjustable gas shocks....

Instead of just telling me to contact Rovertym, why not give me reasons why? With the sway bar question I am hopefully going to get the sway bar disconnects once I get the cash. I am choosing the ome based on some conversations with a few 4x4 shops and such. Both springs are great values, I just am drawn to the OME's not sure why. They all look great on the d2, just looking for recommendations rating wise and such.

Thanks,
Mike

ome sag to one side and is a bulk product.

rovertym specializes in rovers and has customize lifts for the heavy ass rover. they are a proven product both hardcore and pussyfucked.

if you got the $, go RTE 2-3" and get 7100 blingstings, they are firm enuf to allow for little sway with sway bars removed, or if you are a cheap bastard go with the RTE 2" with OME shocks or fuck get Rancho's if you are keeping the sway bars.

listen, if you wheel it you'll and you get OME you'll just be getting RTE anyway, so unless you plan to pose get the fuck outta here. :seeya:

I've run both OME's and RTE's, and my experience is that the OME's will sag before RTE's when used the same way. A 2" RTE is a bit higher than a 2" OME, but not enough that it should scare you away ... I think the RTE's are better performing and a better long-term value ...

I have run the gambit first with SG springs, then OME's and finally RTE springs. I can say that the RTE springs offer the best ride and offroad ability of the bunch (I run no sways or just fronts when I'm not too lazy to put the pins back in the quick discos.) SG springs were too soft and the OME's (unmatched set) while they didn't settle unevenly they did sag excessively even the HD ones under the load of a TJM and X9.

If you call RTE you'll be very pleased with the service and knowledge. I've had my RTE 3" springs for 2+ yrs now with no sag. I realize that you say you are only looking for a moderate lift but on a D2 3" isn't too extreme and doesn't require any additional mods that you wouldn't be doing otherwise. If you really start wheeling it you'll be looking at purchasing the extra lift later. Take my advice do it right the first time. I've spent the money so I'm happy to help someone not make the same mistakes.

I just had the OME medium duty springs and shocks installed this weekend. The ride is greatly improved over stock but I'm a little disappointed in the amount of lift - I'm going RTE next month.

Thanks for the actual explanations and not just ome sucks and rte is great type of comments. Justinhaaga if instead of just telling me to get the fuckk out maybe you'd look at all my last posts, you would see I am trying to get my truck built up as the money comes along. I did some research and made a tentative decision, instead you feel the need to ad some unnecessary comment. Thats mature, I'm sure if you were face to face with anyone you wouldn't drop a comment like that when they ask a legitimate question.

OME doesn't suck.. it's a nice combination for comfort level and mild to medium offroading ... I had a 3" OME lift for a few years.. the problem comes when adding tons of heavy modifications and when you are trying to go higher (you can always add spacers, but that's kinda lame). I now have the RTE 3" and I'm happy with it.. the springs are extremely stiff, has a pretty rough ride, but I'm fine with that since I regularly off road my truck and the payoff is worth it.

Same shocks you are.. procomps... going to change to bilsteins when I have the money though.. the only change I have is a tom woods front driveshaft.. but when I go to bigger tires, I'm going to get some rte radius arms..

yeah, i see a potential near future sale of my rte 2", despite as happy as i am with them, I may just go to rte's 3", my rear scrapes on stuff still if i have any gear with me, and I too want the blingsteins, no sense running those on 2" when they are made to work with their 3"lift

I too made the mistake of starting out too conservative..but did opt for the rte2" over ome, and am glad I went with a longer shock too with extended abs and goodridge ss brakes, its set me up for 3"

its smart you did the frnt shft 1st

Ditto on RTE. I just installed their springs and OME shocks after their recommendation. Steve truly is a great guy to work with. Very helpful. I wanted to update my springs and shocks due to sag and the shocks being completely wasted (92k on original shocks and springs). After installation I saw a huge improvement in ride. Installation wasn't bad and now I have another sticker to go with my lonely cozumel diving one
