A handfull of people are planning a easy trip to Crabtree Falls/Shoe Creek on April 16, 2011. No times set in stone but i know we are going to run from the creek side up towards the falls. I know a couple people were going to camp but not sure where and is not just Rovers. I was going to drive up saturday morning and meet them there. Anyone interested?

I think shoe creek is great fun

I ran it with a buddy (solo truck) this past fall.

We camped at http://www.virginia.org/site/description.asp?attrid=29489

We also just ate dinner at Devils Backbone Brewery and got breakfast at the little coffee shop over there.

Anyway, I am interested in joining you, but I will have to wait till it gets closer. I am thinking about doing the wheeling for hope trip at Oak Ridge Estate in Early April. So who knows what I will break then :)

Just figured i would give a small trail report on shoe creek from this weekend.

WET. i had a couple pictures but something seems to be wrong and wont allow me to upload them. i will just say that the first river crossing was very rushing and over the hood of a lifted d1. all made it thru though.

Holy shit. How did they run after that first river crossing. Mine always runs like hell when the crank sensor gets wet after a crossing like that. I try to keep crossings like that towards the end of a trip.

How far is this from Lynchburg or Devil's backbone?

Wow looks like fun. I'm glad your truck kept running. I had to get towed home last time I did something like that. Glad you had a good time. It's been a long time since I was up there

The Disco did great. I was all alone among a Rubicon, FJ Cruiser and a 4-Runner. Led them in and out. That 1st crossing was unexpectedly deeper than we thought, but hey, send in the one who doesn't have a car payment, eh? I will try to post more pictures when they'll let me.

That's the only "Obstacle", the rest is a dirt road.
