I have 2 Shopsmiths that I'd like to sell. One is the newer (and that is a realative term, it was my grandfather's) and one is a 1948 model. The old one has the original owners manual, the address is Cincinnati 4, so predating the current zip code system. That ought to be in a museum. It needs a power cord replaced, but works, and has loads of attachments, scroll saw, etc. The newer one works well, but I would rather have the space in my small shop. They are heavy as ----, so no way they're getting shipped. $400 takes both, obo.

I loved my shopsmith. I wish i still had one , I came home from a weekend of camping a couple of years ago(when I still lived with the rents) to find that my dad posted it on craigslist and sold it for $1. I was just a little pissed, this is a great tool for a DIYer!

Dang, you're just too far away :(

I use what was my great Uncle's Model 10ER at least weekly. The old gal still cuts / drills / sands straigter than I can :)

If you end up with any bits left over, I'd be happy to take them off your hands....you don't have the band saw attachment, do you?

Are these things really that good? The above posts seem to be singing their praises, but I always wondered how good a multi-tool like this could really be. In my past experiences, the more use a tool has, the worse it is at any particular job. I'm assuming that the real benefit of the Shopsmith is that it takes up very little space compared to dedicated equipment.

Shopsmith is one of the best compromises in engineering I have ever seen. My dad has his rigged up so that he can not only run the standard stuff, but he built a jig for his joiner, his bandsaw and his table sander, all that would fit in the back of a toy hauler. It's all mine now. ;)
