I've never tried them before but assuming if they fit the SD rack's tubes, perhaps these Yakima brackets will do. Look them up at Yakima.com (under products/cargo/gear basket accessories). MSRP is under $40.

Hope this helps. :D

RoversNorth had some stuff under their Defender/Series section...saw it the other day. Can't remember where it was, or if it could work with a rack, but I seem to remember it being really cheap.

Check their site...maybe you'll find it.

Bungee cords work great!

If looking for an alternative ask Trevor...RVRSRVC I believe. He has one mounted on his ladder with some clips but I can't recall who makes them.

I use these brackets for hi-lift mount to front bumper. They come in various diameters inc. that of the SD rack which if I remember correctly is 1". I posted the link just b/c these are fairly inexpensive brackets compared to the alternative's I've seen. Each side of the bracket can receive a threaded bolt so you can get creative on how/what you attach.

There are other shovel-specific brackets out there (AB has some), but as you pointed out, they are pricey.

Now I moved to Cincinnati on 8/12
The Cheapest I found for Yakima was $35.10 which puts me in to getting thoughs, I think.
SCSL: Thanks for the info, but if I were to use only for the Shovel or and Ax, I will have to get 2 pcs, which will put me to more that $40 bucks. Thanks for the Idea though.

They're nice and all and actually looks easy to install. Correct me if I'm wrong but you still have to buy or make the bracket that attaches them to the rails right?
