Yet another problem ahaha... Was driving the other day and truck was sputtering and not running good at all. Have been having battery problems always have to jump it and charging it. Thinking I have a bad alternator. But if i am already running and going down the road and it just shuts off what else could it be. When it died it would not start at all... Tried to jump it but nothing.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

would that cause the sputtering? I had been driving it for about an hour and it said for another hour. Started fine but 1/4 mile down the road it shut off

get a new alternator if it is indeed the alternator.

The battery may have been messed up by draining it that much. Take it to advanced auto or similar and get them to test/charge the battery. If they say its good, then great, but if it's bad, don't chance messing up the new alternator.

another suspect might be the crank shaft sensor....do a search on it ... common problem.

Not an expensive part....a pain to change but doable for the shadetree mechanic.

Alternator was good... took it out last night and just got back from getting it tested and everything checked out.

I had a similar problem, the truck would sputter and die on me a couple times a day, I realized the fuel pump was not running right after each episode, and located the problem, it was one of the pins in the plug over the fuel tank that was not connecting properly
