I have a 2000 DII. The Three Amigos have been coming and going for a few weeks now. I was at the dealer today to pick up some parts and got one of the techs to read the faults from the SLABS. He said I have been getting a Shuttle Valve Switch Failure . He told me to try and repair the problem he would install a shuttle valve service kit #SWO500040. I can do it myself, but the kit costs almost $1000.00. Does anybody have any advice on the matter?

try flush/bleeding the brakes and see if that helps before you replace the shuttle valve.

A side not, every one I did under warranty, I replaced the whole module due to the module leaking into the shuttle valve assembly causing the shuttle valve faults.

That is only one part of the kit. LR now replaces the shuttle valves (the ones in the picture) and the solenoid pack. The two parts together make up kit SWO500040.

Clean the thing (take it apart) and bleed your brake with fresh fluid.

Maybe DUMB QUESTION,

When you clean the shuttle valve and bleed the brakes. You have to clear the codes to make a difference. But is there a timing issue of when to set the codes? Some have rplaced there brake pads and fixed the issue. Is the system that touchy? Newer to Rovers....

Had the same issue with our '00 DII last Fall. Somewhere there is a procedure to measure the resistance of the switches that are under the modulator. You disconnect the multiplug at the modulator and measure for resistance. In my case, there was no continuity, so I ordered the switch kit(~$75).

Removed the modulator and then removed the switch housing. Cleaned it up and still no resistance, especially compared to the new part. There are 2 switches that basically kick in a different resistor for each switch. By measuring the resistance, the system is able to determine which switch is activated. So I replaced everything and the lights went away instantly. So far so good for almost a year.

Now, there was _some_ brake fluid in the switch area, so I figure the switch pack may go again at some point unless the seals are redone.

Overall, it was around $100 for the kit, shipping, brake fluid for a complete flush, and rags.

I'm going to give the procedure from the Hummer website a try. First I have to install the new diff. I got in the mail today and install a new bonnet release cable and replace the 2 rear O2 sensors.

Please update us on your Hummer procedure. Many of us wish those 3 Amigos would just go away!

It's going to be a while before I can get at the job. I'm happy to have installed A DI Diff. Lock setup so I have some back up.

Hey thanks guys. Please post how it goes and steps to do so. We all want them to go away. No TC and no go out here in the mud and sand.

You realize that the hummer ABS unit is the EXACT same and that there are step by step instructions in the link he posted...

If the hummer website ever goes down I saved it as a .pdf
