The issue: snapped a bolt while removing the swivel ball/assy from axle tube. drilled and attempted to use bolt extractor. It snapped off inside too (it worked well on another previously). tried to drill it to no avail.

thoughts on removal? We drilled for a while w/o results. In the process, it appears the leading threads are now damaged a bit anyway.

Other options?
this is just a trail truck, lightly wheeled (no bashing on rocks etc).
-Am i good with the 6 remaining bolts holding the swivel/hub assy to the axle?
-Continue to attempt to drill out and re-tap?

Thx

Find someone with a plasma torch. Have them blast a hole right through the sheared off bolt and broken bolt extractor. It should be concentrated enough to not harm the housing and the heat should loosen up the sheared bolt enough so a new extractor would work.

While you've got the caliper off you should notch that angled bracket so you don't need to disconnect the line from the caliper in the future.

Have also used an oxy-acetaline torch to heat up such an item till it's red, then hit it with a water spray bottle to quickly shrink it to free it.

I dont know anyone with a plasma torch...i dont think. I could try a standard torch though and see how that works.

Which angled bracket? I had just replaced the caliper hard lines last week so they're super easy to work with right now.

I'm not putting those rusted out dust shields back on, i know that.
