Recently I made a couple of posts regarding my preparation for a trip across the Simpson Desert, and the replies I received were most welcolme and helpful. I've now completed my trek and I've posted some photos from the trip at the address below.

The trip included a south to north crossing of the Simpson Desert which meant the longest time between food, fuel and water stops was 7 days.

Enjoy the pics!

Looks like it was a blast, you got some great pictures. How far did you end up covering in the 7 day trek?

The Simpson Desert trip from Birdsville to Batten Hill was around 700km (435 miles), but it took 3 days of driving to get from Sydney to the Flinders Ranges, 4 days in and around the Flinders Ranges, 2 days to get from the Flinders to Birdsville to start the desert portion of the trip. From the end of the desert at Batten Hill/Plenty Highway it took 4 days of driving to get back to Sydney.
In my Disco 2 TD5 I started the desert trip with a full tank (93 litres), plus 3 jerry cans (60 litres) for a total of 153 litres of fuel, and after using all my jerry cans (and developing a fuel leak) I reached the nearest fuel point at Jervois Station with a little over a quarter of a tank of fuel left.
Unfortunately there isn't a trip report, but suffice to say the trip was excellent, and a week of remote desert touring through Australia wasn't anywhere near enough!
