Ski boat Engine Dieseling

I have a carburated I/O powerboat which is dieseling for a 15 to 20 seconds after the igintion is turned off. Any ideas what is causing this? Fuel heating in the fuel line??

more likely a broken advance spring is the distributor that has the spark way way advanced.

when you start it I'll bet it cranks real slow then catches all at once?
