So my dad took his V8 2006 LR3 SE down the street to a Tire choice for an Oil Change today. We requested the weight as disclosed in the book (5w30) but in a synthetic. The car comes off the lift with a 10w30 synthetic and smoking exhaust which obviously was the motor burning oil.
Our car is under warranty, we're afraid that these dumbasses just voided our warranty and may have messed up our motor.
The car is still sitting at tire choice and LR of Fort Myers will be contacted in the morning.
Engine light did come on however, their crap reader couldn't read it so I have no code # for you guys.
I really need all the help I can get for my dad. I've never had a problem with my disco and i've run syn and normal oil in all sorts of weights over the year i've had it.

i have a feeling they added too much oil.

book says from dry 8.5 quarts, for a change 8.1 quarts (or 7.7L). I think they put in 8.5 for an oil thus putting in .4 quarts too much and giving my dad a smoke clowd.

the motor sound normal, felt normal, just smoked. it was driven less than 1/2 a mile before the problem was discovered and turned around.

Re-tighten the oil filter tention coil. They can get fucked up when the filter is removed if you don't know what you're doing.

its all good now. i grabbed the car from the garage, told the people to fuck off and fixed it for the most part and the dealership finalized the fix.

I burned off the oil, cleared the codes, then took it to the dealership so they could manually pull and clean the 02 sensors. its turned out to be just fine. just too much oil and it gunked up the sensors. warranty is in tact.
