Snorkel Question

I am in the market for a LR3 currently. I have noticed that there are LR3 that have side vents and others that do not. I will probably want to add a snorkel in the future but, looking around I have only seen snorkels on LR3s that don't have the side vents. Does having the side vent on the passenger side prevent the install of a snorkel? Or could you almost use that exsisting hole to aid in the install?

Every Disco/LR3 has an air intake on the front RH fender. If you have seen one without it, you were probably looking at the LH side of the vehicle... ;) On the new LR4 they added a dummy vent on the LH side that's there only for looks, like on the Sport. The accessory snorkel-looking plastic thingie sold by Land Rover is just a raised air intake accessory that mounts over such RH vent and rides up the A-pillar. It helps feeding cleaner air to the engine if you drive in very dusty conditions, but is not waterproof (without additional modifications and waterproofing, you wouldn't want to dip your LR3 into that much water anyway.) I believe ARB sells a Safari snorkel for the LR3 as well.

I was aware it was just a raised air intake, as I have one on my XD. I just didn't know if the side vent got in the way so you were unable to install a snorkel later, I was unaware however, that it is a dummy vent. So it sounds like it won't be a problem, Thanks!

Also, you are correct, now that I think of it, I have only seen the vent on the passenger side, I just assumed that some didn't have a vent at all, or both sides of the car had the vent.
