I guess it depends on the deal really. They aren't the best tents in the world but if the deal is good enough... It may be worth it.

Which design?

Snow Peak is famous for a number of products but tents are not amongst them.

I love their stoves, lanterns, and cookware but I'll pass on their tents. I'm sticking with MSR and Black Diamond.

I wish Arc'teryx made a tent.

Also, while we're on the subject of equipment, I'd just like to say that Western Mountaineering makes the finest, most absolutely kick-ass sleeping bag I've ever used.

Consider Hilleberg tents, they're pricy but they're rock solid 4 season tents, my 3 person Nammaj GT sleeps about 5 if you use the vestibule in the summer and in the winter digging out the vestibule gives you a nice livingroom to sit out the storms, all at 6lbs.

The best part about getting the Snow Peak catalog was they sent it to me within 4 days of my email request. And it was huge. Almost 1" thick. That's what I call a deal.

Well, that bag is not a Utah winter bag. It's more of a spring/fall bag but also good for summer in the mountains. Like most of them, you'll sleep like a champ at 10 degrees above the raiting but roast at 25 degrees above. I tend to get too warm and sweat, so I prefer a higher rating.

A good sleeping pad can make all the difference, too.
