Ahh, the good days before whiny, crybaby, divers, that fall over a blade of grass looking for a penalty.

What leagues do you watch?

Nothing, I just don't find it interesting. I play HS varsity soccer and I love it but I just cannot stand watching soccer.

There is 1 game that I really enjoyed. When I was a freshman in HS I watched the varsity boy's play a semifinals game. It was a very close, aggressive game the entire way through. With maybe 10 minutes left the score was like 2-2 or 3-3. The other team had an indirect kick or an pretty open shot and it was about to go in but a kid from my town hand balled it to keep it from going in, so he gets red carded and the other team gets a PK and they make it. Then with a few remaining minutes my town scores. After overtime it went into penalty shots and we ended up winning. It was a very very good game. The news reporter covering the game said it was the best game he's ever watched.

But then he said it's still soccer and the only reason I'm here is because I screwed up the copier and my boss is mad at me.

Awesome clips. It's cool to see someone so good they make other pro's look foolish.

Yep you got it! He was soooo good! To bad he drank himself to death and through two livers. He was a one of a kind.

Cheers,

Mike

When I played, I found watching top teams and players extremely helpful. Give it a try, you'll improve as a player. You can stand it ;)

Yep! I watch EPL, La Liga, and Serie A.

Heh, you're addicted like me. I generally restrict myself to the EPL, just not enough time to follow more than 1 league, or more than 1 sport for that matter. But I try catch the big rivalry games in La Liga, Series A and others.

I have driven to SLC a couple of time to see MLS games, but I wish they structured MLS like soccer elsewhere; there is nothing more exciting than relegation battles. And the sport is stronger with that philosophy. Why does the US always default to a monopolistic league? There is no real fun in that in my view.

Mostly EPL. I follow Valencia in Spain, and Roma in Italy, plus the big rivalries. Speaking of relegation battles, my boys at Reading are in the thick of one. I can't even stand to watch MLS due to the structure and lack of meaninful games.

I love soccer, I love playing, but watching it is so boring.

And this is why the USA will never be a real power in International Football.

How many times do you hear young basketball, football, or baseball players say they don't like watching the professional leagues? Its funny, I was just thinking about this yesterday, and if our young players really want to get better, they need to watch how the international professionals play and maybe they'll actually learn how to shoot from outside the 6 yard box, or how to be a real controlling center mid, man I long for the day when the USA is finally able to put a real international superstar on the field.

x2. i played travel soccer in MS, then varsity all 4 yrs of HS as well as travel. nothing like having the whole team over to the house to watch a game together. a lot can be learned from doing such, especially with your teammates. Maybe it helped us win state sop and jr year...

if you play in HS, watching the pros do their thing can be invaluable.
