I didn't think the day would come. But here we are.
1996 Discovery 1 SE7 w/rear air, 5 speed manual, 142k miles. Beluga black.
The goods: factory 5 speed, 7 seat, rear air truck, newer 4.6 engine, kent cam, headgaskets done, new oil pump, new timing chain, replaced radiator, LOF clutch, con rod bearings replaced, newer differentials, 2” lift shocks (terrafirma), HD steering bars (terrafirma), wide angle rear upper ball joint (terrafirma), d2 black dash, cloth manual seats, ac works well, as does rear ac, oil cooler lines changed within 5000 miles, defender 110 big brakes up front with slotted and vented discs, and slotted discs in the rear, terrafirma ceramic brake discs all around, d2 rear view mirror, rear driveshaft conversion (no more rotoflex)
The bads: body damage to right rear quarter sustained at scarr, door dented, paint is in 4/10 condition with plenty of pinstripes, engine is a little smokey after 4.6 install. (Its been driven Maybe 20 miles.) headliner needs attention, there is a small leak somewhere on the roof, cracked windshield, rear bumper needs replacement (can provide with sale)
The ugly: besides the body damage, it has a rust hole in the trunk which will need attention. The body mount is Not rusted.
I'm selling this as a running driving project, but will recommend trailering home due to odds and ends that need attention. I can deliver for a fee in Texas/LA.
The engine as mentioned is a 4.6 that was installed this year with heads done (valve job and skim performed). It has uprated fuel injectors from a mustang and an upgraded fuel pressure regulator. I replaced the timing chain, oil pump, and clutch while I was in there. The clutch is a heavy duty LOF clutch and the flywheel was also skimmed. The oil cooler lines have been recently changed also. The differentials were replaced with low mileage d2 units with little to no play (less than 3000 miles ago) due to the old ones having too much slop. The transfer case leaks a little oil, but engages 4 low and the cdl no problem. The truck has been to scarr, hill country rover rally and hot springs within the past year and is plenty capable if you add some lift springs and tires. She has some quirks which all d1’s do but everything works and she passes state inspection. I've put a lot of time and money into this truck, its just time to move on.
$5500 obo, located in the Woodlands, TX and more pictures will be added later. (The scangauge and rrc clock are not included)
