I was at the dealer yesterday picking up some small clips I needed for my center console (had that wood stuff where the gear selector is - changed it out to the rubber mat) and while I was there I asked how much the rear ladder cost. You know what they told me??

$500!!!

Holy crap! Why don't they just tell the customer to bend over when they ask these questions?

Strange.... I have tried to reply twice to this post and it doesn't seem to want to save it..

GregH, sorry man... My sense of humor doesn't kick in till at least after 2pm on Saturdays.

Alan, I think they only give you the lube for when you ask about the rack to go with that ladder.

LOL, but you know what? The rack is about $1200 CDN which sounds about right according to what I'm hearing here from you guys and your racks. The ladder seems to be way out of wack for some reason. The Service Mgr told me the original price of the ladder was $256 but said it was superceeded and now shows a price of $500 which I thought was odd and was wondering if they weren't jacking the prices up once the LR3's showed up which they did last week.

That's strange. We charge $395 installed for the ladder, and those prices were checked 1 month ago. It's hard to believe the price went up that much in a month, or there is that big of a discrepancy between the US and Canada!!

I don't know Alyssa. That seems to be quite a big difference and the exchange right now is very good for Canadians. That price was just for the ladder, no labor. $256 I can see but that's a huge jump unless it's some fancy schmancy ladder made out of titanium or something.

maybe they had to add product liability insurance for when some soccer mom's kid decides to climb up there and falls on his ass and the parents sue...

Yea I had him check the price a couple times when he told me. I was expecting it to be around $200 or so so when I heard $500 I asked him to verify and he said it's showing it's been superceeded and the price is now $499 plus tax. I'll just buy it from the US. It will still be cheaper even with shipping and taxes.
