Looking to do SOMETHING. Either D1 or LR4.

I can list candidate areas, but it is more about who might wish to do something.

I want to avoid snow, so SW is the ideal place. Anywhere from South Texas, UT, AZ, NM, to Baja could be considered, but Baja would be a long haul from CO.

OK, so I am thinking 4 corners northern AZ, Las Vegas.

That is easy and a ton of stuff to do.

Baja seems nuts. 2 days to border for me. But near bucket list. I'd only have a few days down there and that would be if I haul ass.

I just drove El Camino del Diablo again a couple weeks ago. Always a good trip, beautiful virgin desert, but it's literally as south as you can go in AZ. It's cold all over the state now, especially up in northern AZ. But there is a lot to explore on the north side of the Grand Canyon. Look around Page, AZ. Antelope Canyon is definitely worth the visit. North Rim of the Grand Canyon has miles and miles of trails to explore....but a lot is closed in the winter.

Moab in the winter is hard to argue with with the ease of access from Denver/CO...less crowds and tons of trail options. "Worst" case it snows and go explore easier trails and see the desert with snow and almost no crowds. Unsure about the holiday season and crowds however, I usually try to go mid to late Feb.

Wish you had been there. The 3 guys I was with all wimped out after 2 nights and I didn't get my 3rd night in on the trail. It's not like you need 3 nights to make the drive but damn man....I had officially approved time off from the wife.

That's awesome, Bill!
You don't need 3 nights or even 3 days for that trail, but if you went to every little spur trail and took a short hike, it could take a week.
Camping along this trail is awesome. And you could continue along the border (you'll have to go around Tohono O'Odham lands for that).
