i got in some mud the other week and for some reason my speakers won't play anything, i've run speaker wire straight from the radio to the speaker and they work but the factory wiring doesn't. has anybody else had this problem before?

sounds like you shorted out the preamp that is located under the passenger seat (or blown the fuse)... its probably best you run wires directly anyway... especially if you ever decide to change out the head unit.

A pretty huge pain if you want to do it right...

The most frustrating part for me was taking the goddamn door pillars off to get at the tweeters, and the factory "subwoofer" doesn't like to behave well with aftermarket decks.

A six pack of beer, a few hours, and a lot of cursing will get it done.. if you are moderately familiar with stereo wiring.

thanks, i have already disconnected the factory subs and added some better ones so that won't be an issue, and does anyone know where the best place to run the wires to the rear speaker would be.

I just ran them thru the center console, behind the drivers seat, under the carpet to the door moulding. From the just under the carpet of rear deck to the speakers.. you can easily snake the pass side rear wire thru the headliner to the the right side.. Not a hard job just time to get the center console & carpets up & back down again. it'll give you a good reason to give the floor boards a good cleaning....
