I want to replace the door speakers in my D1. I don’t listen to loud music and basic speakers are aok with me. I still have the stock head unit and plan to keep it as long as it functions, I guess I’m turning into an old man. The worse my hearing gets the more loud music bothers my ears, seem it should be the opposite.

Are there any speakers that fit in the door mounts that will not require opening up door? I purchased the smallest magnet speaker I could find listed and it didn’t fit in the door opening,

6.5” w/ 3” depth, 4 ohm speakers. Others say 2 ohm but I doubt it. I’m not sure on the tweeter sizes. Maybe 2.75”?
And yeah, you have to remove the door cards to get to the speakers.
Here are the stock part numbers for the Discos…

I think the factory door speakers are 4 inches not 6.5. We had to trim the doors a bit for larger magnets in our truck. The rears would be easier to upgrade. The subs are tiny, I think 6.5. In my sons d1 we put an aftermarket radio, a couple small amps under the backseat and used factory size speakers and subs of better quality. Still not great but not too expensive. He added some bigger subs later. He’s a kid.

I was able to get 5" Polk Audio speakers in my doors. It is a tight fit and the hole needed opened up a little. Sounds great, totally worth it
