Split Auto transmission hose

Recently my 04 TD5 Disco broke down when an auto transmission hose (the one that goes into the radiator) split - sending auto trans fluid all over the engine bay and under the car. This week, a friend of mine who also owns an 04 TD5 Disco had exactly the same problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just defective hoses, or does it point to a bigger problem?

were you at a stand still or traveling when it blew out? sand with your friend same question.

If you were moving what speed where both of you going?

I can't speak for my friend (although I know he was driving at the time), but I was travelling downhill on a highway at around 60Kmh (around 35Mph). It is a weird defect as the hose itself splits. It doesn't blow off the connector, just splits! As mine happened while I was going downhill (a very steep gradient) in 2nd/3rd gear, I didn't notice a problem until I tried to go up the next hill and had no transmission.
