Spring spacers?

After searching I've found there are very mixed reviews on spring spacers.

I'm installing new OME shocks & stock LR springs this weekend and I had planned on using 2'' spacers from RN just for snow clearance. I don't wheel and I like the feel of the stock springs and I don't think anyone makes a +2'' spring in a similar spring rate. Already have +2'' brake lines and will add -2'' rear shock mounts.

So do people still feel 2'' spacers are a dumb idea and that I'll crash in a fireball killing a school bus full of children???

I will not be putting a diesel in it nor will this Rover be used for home defense so it will not need a shotgun.

Kevin, you're on the right track, but the real question is whether or not you'll be carrying a Yeti cooler in your truck.

Like you, I prefer the factory ride feel and my truck has no heavy aftermarket accessories (bumpers, winch, armor, huge roof rack, etc.). Unlike you, however, I do wheel my truck (although not very well). My solution was to install Terrafirma light duty springs. I did achieve a lift, but not much. The feel of the truck now is slightly stiffer, but compared to the worn out out stock springs it is a welcome improvement. This spring setup will probably give you more stability than spacers on stock springs, plus more articulation, plus a little extra load carrying capacity for when you put your Yeti coolers in the back packed with ice and beer.

It might not be exactly what you have in mind (the TF spring rate will be higher than stock) but it's one option to consider.

No I will not be carrying a Yeti cooler but she was in Vineyard Vines photoshoot.

I did consider the TF light but I felt the stock springs was the way for me. My concern is the stability and my thought was the OME shocks will balance it out.

Thanks for your input T!

An alternative would have been having a set of springs made to the stock spring rate only longer to give the lift.

A progressive spring rate could have been an option as well.

If though you are set with the LR springs and OME shock set-up, from what I have read in the past the spacer will give you that 2" lift without negative effects especially as you have already done the other stuff i.e. longer brake lines, etc..

I run TF 2 inch springs (medium rate) and a 1inch spacer on each corner for a total of 3. No I'll affects that I can find/feel. If my stock suspension hadn't been shot I wouldn't have hesitated to run the spacers.

Started this install yesterday on the left rear corner. PO thought a cheaper version of a spacer lift would be flip the spring perch over! Also had a front (blue/white) spring back there. I wonder what the other corners will hold.

Quick question.... does it matter which end is up on the springs? I'm going tighter coils up.

I've been driving for a week on the new suspension and I really like the ride. She now has current stock springs w the 2'' RN spacers and OME Nitrocharger Sport shocks. Smooth ride with no increase in body roll.

Front spacers were a bit tricky. The shock bushings & hardware barely fits inside.

I can't really compare it to the old suspension since 3 out of 4 springs were front blue/white springs including both of the rear with a mix of shocks.
