98 D1, AT 109 K runs great, but in the last two weeks saw some coolant coming out of the overflow ( was towing another car on trailer at the time) lost none since, but a couple of times it has not started on first pop - either did not start at all, or started and splutterd for a second or so and then idled fine.
Any ideas?
TIA

If you've replaced or removed your mass airflow sensor lately, you might have lost the metal clip and the plug could be coming loose. When my plug is loose the truck does exactly what you are describing at startup.

Did it overheat when the coolant was coming out? Did you replace it? Did you check the temp switch or temp sending unit?
No overheating, temp gauge was normal, topped back up and no loss since. Guess I'll wait for another 'thing' to happen!

Good thought, I did remove the air boot assy recently to get to the exhaust manifold and replace it, I didn't unplug the MAF though.. I'll unplug the MAF connection and run some contact cleaner on it.

Check the temperature reading of your coolant. It may not be this problem but it is one. You shouldn't be losing coolant when your truck isnt overheating. If you have a bad switch your truck can run poorly and you wont know if it overheats.
