Needed help, when through a speed bump and the truck stalled and won't start, it won't even crank, just a click. Battery is good.

Had the truck tow to a shop, seems like they haven't figure out the electric issue. They are able to hot wire the starter and start the truck, so there is fuel sparks, etc.

Is it the VSS? or something?

might sound silly but, did you check fuses? my 97 would die when her nose was higher then 45* and ether just crank or click once. turns out the engine mangement system fuse was blowing. O2 senser wire melted and would touch the cat and blow the fuse.

I only checked the fuse related to the engine management system under the dash and all the big fuse under the hood, all are good, but did not check the light fuse, as wasn't aware of the light situation yesterday.

???

The speed bump may have been a coincidence. Or it may have jiggled the wiring just enough to push it over the edge. I've read before that it can often be the wiring that fails and not the CKPS itself. When was your CKPS last replaced?

Sorry, I overlooked your opening remark that the engine wouldn't even crank. That's a lesson that I should not be posting at 4:00 a.m.

Ed, it is Disco 1 - enjoy the simplicity of electrical system. Get the Rave ETM close by, go over the fuses, and you'll get to the bottom of it.

Getting the lights back on should be ok for me, but I just don't know what is stopping the power to the starter.
And on top of that I already had an issue with interior lights power to the clock,..properly some grounding issue and water leaks from the roof causing water damage. And fading paint on the hood and roof...

My inspection is due in Sept., so I will be throwing money at those fixes and new tires brakes and disc. I can properly buy another used one with that kind of money. And what surprise me is that there isn't a DI on the market! And I saw a 97 V70T5 at a really good price. If I get the V70, and junk the Disco( junk yard collect this type of vehicle and sell them off to the 3rd world), I still comes off much better than fixing it, in terms of financially speaking......plus the current gas price, I will be better off in the long run with the V70. And keep looking for a better condition DI.

Edited: refreshing my memory, the stall did happen before, always at slow speed.

OK, gone to the shop, lights issue is a joke, just the light on the rear bumper is gone, so it is not a big deal as the shop said, the truck start right up. But my guess is the phantom stall will happen again.

Well, did took a look at 2x V70T5, shitty condition, so I am staying with LR for a while, my other plan is get a better condition DI, so wish me luck finding one.
