Stalling while at a stop

My 1998 D1 recently began to stall out or loose its idle if stopped at a stop sign or traffic light. If it is a short stop my idle drops to almost nothing. Once I apply the gas pedal it takes a while (3-5 seconds) for the vehicle to react and accelerate. If I sit to long it stalls out. Once running it runs fine with no lose of power. My codes prior to the issue were 1313 and 1314. I just recently picked up 1187. Would this o2 sensor code cause this significant of a problem so quickly?

Did you get the 1313 and 1314 figured out? It's funny cause my truck also has an 1187 and just got rid of the 1313 and 1314.

For this issue - clean IACV and throttle body and report back..

Mine does the same thing lately. No rhyme or reason. I can get off the freeway one time and it stalls, then the next 10 it won't. Same around town. I can drive and hit 20 signals/stop signs and it won't stall, then all of a sudden it will stall for a few, then it stops again. I have a fairly new IACV (Jan). I'm kind of wondering if it's a vacuum leak that's intermittent, or perhaps because the VSS crapped out again.

I just got this truck a month ago and am in the process of going through it. I will also get to the filter tomorrow.

Work has kept me late so all I have had time for is changing the fuel filter. That had no affect as expected but it needed it anyway. I started it last night and now I have the opposite problem. On initial start up it jumps to 2500 rpm and never comes down. What is the best method for cleaning the IACV and throttle body?

Remove IACV spray with carb cleaner, use a tooth brush to scrub it. For the throttle body just spray carb cleaner in, wipe access and clean out the gunk. Open the throttle clean all the residue on and around the plate.

After starting up the truck this afternoon everything appears fine. It is actually running better than it ever has and I did nothing other than a fuel filter and get pissed off. I will clean the throttle body and IACV this weekend for good measure.

What I thought was good is not. I realized that this only happens once the motor get warm (around mile 15ish). It has been around 90 each day the past week here. I cleaned gunk out of the throttle body and I pulled the IACV off and cleaned it. Any other ideas?

My truck started doing this about two days ago, it's also a 98, but it happens both when it's cold and when it's warm. The stutter has happened for the 3-5 seconds from setting off from a stop and I pulled into a grocery store parking spot yesterday and the truck just shut off. I don't have any check or service engine lights on but i'll scan this evening along with cleaning the iacv and throttle body tomorrow.

So since I last posted I cleaned out the MAF, changed the fuel filter, and replaced the IACV. The RPMs now go between 2,500 and stall at idle. While driving I have noticed dark exhaust and it's running crappy. If I unplugged the MAF the idle holds itself at 750 rpm and drives better. Would you all agree the MAF is bad?

It idles way better un plugged. Driving it seems to run a bit ruff, but better than with it plugged in.

Any one ever use an ALLMAKES or Proline MAF? THey are by far the cheapest. I was just curious about quality.

Have you tried taking your MAF apart and checking to see if there is something on the wire?

I took mine apart, not hard at all. There was actually a manufacturing issue with the tube and it wasnt sealed properly. Sealed it with silicone when i reassembled. Works fine.

remove screws and pull out the sensor

This is where the leak was.

Might be worth a shot to check it out. I wouldnt worry about messing it up if its already bad.
