Stearing box ?

I am getting a 1984 Defender 110 with no power assisted stearing. How hard is it to change the stearing box for a PAS ( Power Assisted Stearing ) one. Is it the same as a D1 or RRC. I can handle the pump and reservoir wich can be fitted to match the stearing box.

Thanks All

Pat, just unbolt the manual box and install the power steering box. I think the Disco Defender box is the same..

Yeah but what about the pump?

the box is the easy part.

You're going to have to make a bracket and mount the pump.

you should have a double pulley off the crank with an empty groove. use that to drive the pump.

I have a steering box and pump from a D2 that have just been sitting while I ponder how to put them into the 110.

The Pump and the reservoir is the easy part, but stearing box has to fit properly.

For the pump, I saw on an other thread a direct fit from I think a chevy s10 and is ajustable for pressure. I would build a bracket to hold it in place and fit a resevoir.

I would have the hoses custum made.

Thanks for the input.

Just wondering now is your D2 steering box compatible with you 110 steering box ?
