Wondering if anyone has a picture they could post of the steering gearbox in a parts breakdown view.

mine just started massively leaking from the top, where the four bolts secure it to the body of the gearbox. thanks

check the tightness of the sector shaft adjuster nut on top of the box. if its tight, spin it off and check the condition of the seal.

sorry kids got to the computer.

Thanks, I pulled the nut off, but was only able to get to three of the four bolts to pull the top off. I guess I gotta remove this from the truck first.

I was talking about the seal that's on the bottom of the lock nut. its kind of like a nylock nut, except the nylon is on the bottom, not the top.

don't take the top cover off unless you're certain that's where its leaking from.

ok, yeah I took that nut off and the red nylock type seal seems good.

I finally got all four bolts out but wasn't able to pry the top off. Either way I have to pull the damn thing out(some other day) so I'll probably just start saving for a reman box now.

I just got the RT toy front put all together too and this crap happens. awsome.

pulled the steering box today, and the top cover. there's only a large O-ring that seals the top, so I'm hoping that is the problem even though the O-ring looks fine, no visible nicks or cuts that I could find.

Just waiting on the rebuild kit that I order from British Pacific, then we'll see....

I got the seal kit p/n STC2847 from BP today. The kit comes with a bunch of seal, a new sector shaft adj. nut, and O rings so I just picked the one that was the same size of the old one. The new O ring is kinda modular(if that makes scense) compared to the traditional type O ring that was installed on the sector shaft cover, but it does seem to fit better.

So I installed the new O ring , a new sector shaft adjusting nut and so far it's not leaking anymore...knock on wood. $40 worth of seals is definately a bargain. :applause:
