Will sent me a message the other day.
Still running the front bumper he made for me on my D2.
He was a great guy and made some great stuff. I loved going to his shop and asking stuff like, "How can I get more travel out of my shocks?" or "What do I need to do to get another inch?"
He would always come up with a solution.

Such a bummer to hear. I remember going over to a rovertym when I was in high school after school one day and hitting up some power line trails with Steve. I saw him about a year ago and he was definitely bummed to see what has become of the company he had built

That's a shame. Is RTE no more, then? I bought most of my stuff for my lift from John back in the day. He was a good guy as well.

Web site looks like it is lacking maintenance. This would certainly explain why.

The new owner Simon prefers phone calls. He also said some company charges him an arm and a leg to update the site, including pricing. Everything is probably 20%-50% more expensive than the site shows. it's a dumb excuse because you can migrate to shopify or squarespace in an afternoon with what he has on there, but he's apparently "too busy to deal with computers" as he puts it. product is still good, so no worries with buying. lead time is 6-8 weeks.

RIP, only 3 years older than me.

Owned his trailing links, radius arms, cones, retainers, towers and bought remote res bilstein from him, a lot of gear and it just bolted on. That D1 was badass. Saw some time with Oliveres(SP?), Rupps and Muskyman, someother old timers from here.

Always thought his RTE bumpers looked like crap, so never bought those.

RIP Steve, thanks again, for all the help turning wrenches and fun on the trails at Pearl's Pond, as well as that insane place in Crozet. Good times!

He built me a Slimline Husky towards the end of his tenure at RTE, he was really easy to deal with. I reluctantly didn't get a set of his suspension links for that truck. Certainly the end of an era in the Land Rover community.

He should find someone who can do Wix or similar and pay them in product. Not that hard.
