I unhooked my battery for a while and now the stock stereo deck says 'code'. I can't get it to work. Is there a default code I can enter to get this thing to work? It's a stock cassette deck with the cd changer under the front passenger seat (97 Disco). Thanks, -Dave.

Did that remedy your situation?

If not, the vehicle has to be on for like an hour and a half and will accept the code at that point.

Exactly Dan. You could have the proper code and still not get it to turn on. The system remembers how many times you've punched different numbers in hoping that magically you'll hit the right combo :D .

After faxing my ownership and VIN over to the dealer, they gave me the code over the phone. Had to keep the key in the ON position, left it for an hour, punched in the code and presto.

Mike.

Main dealer should provide it if you contact them - that's how I got mine as well.

Doesn't explain why the radio didn't require a code after it had been sat in my garage for 2 days though :D !

You guys are saying the key has to be on for over an hour. I think the radio has to be on displaying the word code for over an hour. I put my code in incorrectly a few times last week and drove for two hours but the correct code did not work. Today I left the radio on for one hour put in the code and the radio is functional again.
