Stuck SAI valve or bad solenoid?

I pulled a p1412 code the other day. When I start the truck the SAI pump doesnt sound like a shop vac like in normally does, it sounds like the end of the tail pipe. I tested the pump by jumping it on the bench, it works fine, no moister was in it. At start up, I pulled the flex pipe off the pump and the flex pipe is pulling air with a fair amount of suction. Is this indicative of a stuck SAI valve, or a broken solenoid? When first bought the truck 3 years ago, I had a bad pump, a bad solenoid, and one bad valve that needed replacing. All has been fine until now. I fucking HATE sai...

go with the solenoid, its easy swap and has been known to be the culprit.

that being said when I had the issue it was 1412 and 1415 together.

Hey, seen you both seem to have been elbow deep in the engine bay recently maybe you can help, the disco is throwing codes p1415 and p1413, along with a NOISY sai pump, probably change out the solenoind and a different sai pump. but while poking around behind the intake plenum I find the hard aluminum pipes between the sai valves is just laying back there, loose, not bolted to anything, it has a bracket but for the life of me I couldn't find where it might bolt up to. any ideas?

It's loose because it is super hard to get hooked back up when the engine is in the truck. It was prob taken loose when the head gaskets were done.

youll never get the bracket back on unless you pull the engine or top end. there isnt enough room between the back of the engine and the firewall to get it back together.

the loud sai pump doesnt mean it is bad, when the solenoid is bad it doesnt pass the air thus making the pump sound very loud. start with the solenoid and i bet youll be find. also check any sai lines, they are brittle lines and can be cracked but you should be able to see.

Once again discoweb to the rescue! Thanx for the replies. yep had the head gaskets done ages ago, so I'll find some "alternative" mounting since its laying down on other things like the spark plug wires :ack:. And I'll go with the solenoid first. The lines/tubes seemed to be in order. Thanx again. 150k miles and still ticking, a lot...;)
