Stupid swaybar question...

I've searched and seemed to have found too much swaybar controversey. Hell, I even replied in a thread a while back about it. I've got a 2" OME HD lift and BFG 265/75-16's MT's. Is it safe, leaving the trac bars connected, to run the front, rear, or both swaybars disconnected? My leaf sprung Jeep YJ I removed all of the above and never noticed a difference. Coil springs I know are different but what's the skinny on this? I'm taking a 2.5 hr trip to wheel all day at Uwharrie tomorrow and if possible I'd rather remove them at the shop today. Sorry for asking a repetitive question and thanks in advance.

It takes a minute to get used to, but I have not been running swaybars for over a year. So far, no ill effects.

Just curious if, when off roading do you have any problems with your springs popping out? Or do you have aftermarket spring straps installed? or Cones, etc?

I took my rear sways off a few weeks ago for our recent Uwharrie trip. Didn't really notice any difference in road handling but I was worried about articulation. I'm running an OME setup with the stock spring retainers.

My experience only. I removed my sway bars 3 or so years ok. I've had to do emergency evasion (Atlanta drivers don'tchaknow) and typically take an interstate ramp posted at 30mph at 50-55 mph with no problem.
YMMV.

The ride up was fine. Our group of 7 vehicles only went about 60-65mph. The ride back in the rain at 70+ got a little hairy at times, especially when I picked up the draft off 18 wheelers. She swayed a good bit but not enough to put them back on. I'm permanently removing the swaybars and the hardware now. As far as flex and suspension travel the swaybars did absolutely nothing because of inner fenderwell contact(more lift) :p
