I've decided to invest in a TJM T15 bull bar for my '01 Disco II, but I was wondering if the weight of the bumper alone (no winch) will necessitate upgrading the front springs?

If so, does anybody have any recommendations? I would just go for a lift kit, which I want pretty badly, but sadly it would void my extended warranty. Also, this is a daily driver, so ride and handling are factors. Thanks for any help!

Have you been told explicitly that it will void your extended warranty? I know Stansell has a 3" lift and the local dealer honors his extended warranty as well as my new vehicle warranty for my rig with a 3" lift.

The warranty is from a company called Guardian if anybody has any experience. I bought the disco used and that is the warranty the dealer sold me. Although I don't understand why they would be concerned about lifting as its pretty much just a powertrain warranty, it came with a little card listing all of the banned upgrades. It definitely lists "suspension lift kits" and "over/under size tires." Really cramps my style.

Obvisouly its risky to knowingly void a warranty, but does anybody have experience with these kinds of aftermarket extended warranties? Seems to me that if I am mailing in a claim all they ever see is the mechanic's bill.

If you want to replace your bumper and you are concerned about the lift and how it will effect your warranty then put on the bumper, it is not that heavy. If yoy get a little drop, get in touch with John Lee at E.E. and buy a couple of the Rover insulator rings he sells. These will give you a half an inch lift with one an inch with two, they are a Rover product and nobody will ever know.

That sounds pretty slick... I'm new to Rovers and this board though. What is E.E. and do they have a website or some other contact info? Thanks!

I remember a post from on here sometime ago where someone said that their dealer said that upgrading to OME HD's would not void the warranty because LR offers HD springs as an upgrade. So.. If worst comes to worst and you can not do a "lift", then try going to LR and having them put their HD springs/shocks in.

It will not void your your warrantee.
Magnuson Moss Warrantee Act;US Code Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312.
A vehicle manufactorer can not void the warrantee due to an after market part unless they can prove that the after market part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle.
Thus, the addition of the bumper or the suspension kit should not effect the warrantee.

My concern is the term "vehicle manufacturer" since its a third-party warranty. I don't know... any lawyers out there?
