Ok after killing the engine on my 98 D1 I just pick up yesterday a 95 D1 so not only the leather is a bit beat on the 95 but I also notice that either the seat is more narrow or is something wrong with the cushion because it digs into my left leg ,drove it for 5 hours yesterday and is not pretty my left leg was num , how ever the 95 is manual seats the 98 electric , is posible to swap seats keeping the manual rail ? Or just the bottom seat ?? Not sure

The 95 and 98 use different seat mounts. You would need to custom fab something to make it work.

What about swapping just the leather the 95 is broken and showing the foam
I was unable to do it.
FWIW - look for good RRC seats. They tend to be of much better quality, and hold up better with age, than D1 seats; the shape is also by far superior. Mounting those in a 96-99 D1 is easy.

Peter's suggestion is on the money. My RRC seats were more comfortable than my D1 seats are, and they certainly were more durable. Having the armrest is a nice bonus. If you're really enterprising you could insert the heating element from your D1 seats into the RRC seats (ifyou have that feature). I have thought about putting RRC seats in my Disco, but that is so far down the list of priorities that I may never get to it.

94 and 95 seats have totally different supports than 96 and up Discos. Even a manual seat from a 96 and up Disco is different than a 94-95. 94-95s have a bottom section that's bolted into the floor. 96 and up have two supports welded into the floor. I don't think swapping RRC seats into the 95 is as easy as swapping them into a 96 and up DI. However, I will check tonight and see if it is possible.

You can swap the foam from one seat to another. Did you look under your seat and make sure all supports are ther and the mesh isn't broken?

I have new bottom seat supports for sale if you need them.

Just checked and it looks like you can easily swap the RRC seats into a 96-99 DI but not the 95 DI.

I have a few pics I'll post tomorrow morning.

First of all sorry for the poor pics but it was dark by the time I took the pics.

Here's a pic from a 95 DI:

As you can see the rails are bolted into a frame that came on a 94 and 95 DI. In 96 thru 99 they removed the frame and welded them to the floors.

Here is a pic from a 99 DI:

Here is a picture from a 94 RRC:

It looks like you could bolt the seat from the 99 DI into the 94 RRC and vice-versa. I haven't done it so I'm not 100% sure.

Now, if you look at the next pic of the 95 DI it looks like you could remove the seat and rails from the frame and they might align with the 99DI setup (and vice-versa) but again, I haven't done it so I'm not sure.

What I would do if I were you Chris is remove the seat from the 95 and turn it over to see what the problem is. It could be that the cushion is split or that the diaphragm under the seat broke. You can replace the mesh with a new one made out of rubber from Exmoor http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/catalogue/detail/123-re-trim-kits-foams-diaphragms/flypage/3887-discovery-1-seat-diaphragm.html?sef=hcfp or a canvas one for $25.

If the cushion is split you can buy a used one or a new one from Exmoor http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/catalogue/detail/123-re-trim-kits-foams-diaphragms/flypage/804-discovery-i-seat-base-foam.html?sef=hcfp

In any case you have to remove the seat to see what the problem is.

Just an FYI for anyone who wants to change the rear seat on your DI over to a RRC style seat with the armrests, it IS possible. They fit perfectly in the back of your DI. I have them in the back of my 95 DI and my daughters love the armrests.

What happened to the 98 engine? Overheated? Blew up?
Thanks John , it doesn't seem like the cushion is split is just hard and the edge just digs into my leg it feels like the seat is just to small for me , but I will take them off and see what it could be done .
With the 98 I went to do a oil change while working to a no name cheap places I had a fram filter that I handed to them , pick it up after 10 min my oil light started blinking a while later some knocking stoped and did a second oil change maybe they mess up the oil weight ? left the second place no oil light no knocking 5 miles before getting home oil light again and knocking , got home and by then loud knocking and lost of power , dropped the oil and it was burnt in just 15 miles of driving total , the pick up line was clogged by 80% , so guessing the oil pump gave out , still runs but with a horrible knocking
