Can the Kit for swaping to coils be had for under 270? If so could someone provide a link.

west of the city...
I did the swap last weekend w/ the invaluable assistance of some fellow dweb'ers. ( Cheers to Steve R. and David S.! ) The kit is 299.00 or so, but I went w/ a 2" OME lift instead of burning 300.00 for something I knew I would want to change as the Pipeline should be lots more exciting away from the "stock" run. I bought the springs and shocks, got the spring seats and spacers ( I did use the frame spacers for the front frame crossmember) from the "for Sale" section here on the board. Make sure you have a die to clean the bolt holes for the spring seats. Thanks to Steve we solved the issue.

Thanks for the advice Roach.

Unfourtunatly this is my wifes ride and as much as I would love to put a lift on her (the rover that is) it is not very economical or practical right now. I may just replace the airbag if I can find one for cheap, but I sure would like a little bit more peace of mind that would come with springs.

Has anyone purchaced all of the needed parts separately and came out ahead of what a kit would cost?

I basicly converted mine for FREE! A local rover shop gave me a set of OME 751 springs and a pair of D1 spring seats for free after I had some work done there. I found a set of 762 springs for $40 (the guy threw in a pair of 1 inch spacers). And I bought a used set of OME shocks off Ebay for $125 shipped. I then removed and sold my air springs on Ebay for $175 (only had 30k on them). The result, a 3" coiled lift. For ~ Free!

Shop around, trade, bargain... you never know what you'll come up with. I actually might have the 751s for sale.... Cheap.

I'd just replace the bag. I know what the general consensus is on the SLS, but I like it. Personal preference. You can get the bags pretty cheap online. I believe mine came from Arnott Industries, around $125 each. They are unbelievably easy to change.
