What do I use in the swivel ball area? I am assuming it would be the same as a RRC. I am posting here because I know more people will see it here and I need it today.

My manual says some MIL- number, and the guy at Autozone had no idea what it was. Is there something I can buy locally, or do I need to order (93 RRC LWB)

LR used to use oil in the RR swivel balls. Now they use a special grease. I used CV joint grease in mine appox. 10k miles and still goin good.

LR sells a special grease for the swivel. The part no. is STC3435. You need two tubes, one for each swivel ball. Each tube is 450grs. of grease.

I use 1/2 tube of LR "one shot" & to the level plug w/1/2 85w90 gear oil. It stays fluid enough to drain, but lubes well enough to do the task without leaking out of the swivel ball seals. I really think that Land Rovers "one shot" grease is in truth just standard CV joint grease. It looks the same, smells the same, etc. I did use LR 1 shot in my last maintence mix, though. Good Luck, LRW.

IF my 97 swivel housing had drain holes, I would use standard 90-wt and change as I do with my diffs, however, without drainholes, I use one-shot. I have seen others who have tapped drain-holes and converted, but I don't have that kinda of time on my hands to address something that is so indifferent. Hell, too many other items on this truck require my attention to keep her running.
