Synchroshift for 5spd?

Has anyone with a "cruchy" 1-2 shift in a 5 speed tried a product called Synchroshift?

A few years ago I had an all-wheel-drive Eagle Talon with a very worn 2nd gear syncro. I used Synchroshift in the ******, and viola - smooth shifting for another 30K miles.

Just wondering.

The truck I am considering to buy has presumably a worn' 2nd synchro. The previous owner demonstrated how he shifted under power, and I can see why. These are trucks, not racecars.

In any case, there is a definite grind if trying to do a quick 1-2 shift. I'm just trying to figure out if Synchroshift would be a good longer-term bandaid vs. a repair.

Not familiar with synchroshift but R380s are finicky with thick oils, the pump can't keep up and bearings die as a result.

Nothing stopping you from driving on a worn syncho indefinately

R-380 synchros

When the R-380 was originally introduced, 90 weight was specified in the gearbox. (Why is tr-ann-y a bad word??) In late 1995 or early 1996, the engineers specified the much thinner ATF, as they found that the whimpy little internal oil pump couldn't keep up with thicker oils. My vehicle came with two owner's manuals, one calling for 90 weight, the other, ATF. I have since swapped over to Redline's synthetic ATF.

Cheers

I've been successfully running 75-90 synthetic in my 5-speed for ~5 years now.

90 weight was never specified for 380s,it was very early in specified for LT77 boxes in the 70's/early 80's after that all LT77, LT77s and R380 left the factory with ATF in them. LR changed to MTF 75/85 GL4 in late 97 for R380 however they didn't change the owners manuals. All LT77 R380 boxes should be run on MTF GL4 75/85. Redline MTL works well as does Castrol Syntrans. Plenty of mineral MTFs work ok as well. 2nd gear syncro will be notchy if it has the wrong oil in it. MTF is more stable at temp than ATF and also has extreame pressure aditives ie the GL4 rating, provides much beter gear , bearing and syncro life.
