Im not sure whats going on with powder coating right now. My guess is that they all just got tired of the warranty claims. I did notice that TR now how a giant disclaimer on their home page that states they will not warranty any powder coating on their bumpers. That disclaimer wasnt there when I bought mine last June.

BAM! Wrong-o-

Not quite sure why you wouldnt trust them. The pic of my truck is from about 3 minutes after the bumper was installed. 5 minutes after that I had my roatating swivels installed.

I then proceeded to pick up the front of my truck with a strap and a 10k fork lift past 45 degrees off of one hook.

BAM! They nailed the recovery points if you ask me, and I actually own one of the bumpers.
Well they are HOIST rings after all, I wouldn't expect them to fail in a hoisting application. My primary concern would be in a yank situtaion where there could be shock loading.
They're probably fine and certainly better than nothing, just not my first choice. They're also really only as good as their backing plate. I be using the biggest hunk of steel I could fit behind there.

Garrett, I didn't mean a rattle can job is just as good as powdercoat. With powdercoating being so hit and miss I wouldn't spend the cash on it. If its a good PC job then it will hold up well and protect your bumper. If its a bad PC job it will secretly rust your bumper to hell without you knowing it.

I have T/R front and rear, I replaced the RTE set that I had. Gained a ton of clearance especially in the rear, I have hit them harder than I would have liked and just have scratches. I think they look better and are more thought out. No more "bumperettes" all in all a great product.

Well, i pulled the trigger on a T/R for the D2. Going to put my 9.5Ti into it that is laying around the garage.

Will post pics once its put in. The guys at T/R said that they havent tried a 9.5Ti but are sure it will fit with a bit more grill trimming......

My latest batch of Rovertym suspension parts looked like shit, huge difference in quality in regards to weld quality, symmetry and finish vs prior rovertym equipment. My .02

Bam! There it is. Notice the two TR bumpers(from two different users) posted here and neither has a recovery point in the front.
In my opinion its pointless to drop big cash on a bumper that doesn't have a proper front recovery point. And TR bumpers don't come with them, they're an extra $150/pair for a 5500lb ring which I wouldn't trust. Major design flaw IMO.
You guys with the TR bumpers and no front recovery points, how do you expect to use a snatch black and run the line back to your truck? How can someone hook a strap to your front end and tug you out?
Maybe TR bumpers are plenty strong, IDK. But I think they missed the boat on their recovery points.

Noticed T/R was offering a combo deal on their bumper, winch, light, and recovery kit. I also noticed that the bumper in the pics they posted had recovery points. I asked about them, and a few minutes later I got this message form Eric:

"Ken, If you want a set of those recovery points for your bumper I will send them to you. I have always felt that they should be a part of the bumper and know I'm in a position to include them. Email me your shipping address. eric@tacticalrovers.com"

Needless to say Im happy with my decision to go with T/R

Every time I see a tactical rovers bumper mounted to a disco, nothing is flush.

Installer error. Mounts allow some play for positioning. Mine was that way until I pushed it up flush. As heavy as they are it's no surprise people tighten them low.

I also had to trim some of the metal under the grill to get it sit up as high as possible.

TIL: winch bumpers are installed by little girls.

You shouldn't have to do that. If you spend a fair amount of money on something like a bumper, it should just fit.

I personally don't own an RTE or a T/R but I did pick up a never been used, very squared off piece of kit handmade by what appeared to be a someone who hates straight lines that goes by the name of Nate Bottorf. The powder coat sucks but I have bolted it to the frame with grade 9 mil-spec anti corrosive 1/2" bolts and am going to test the piss out of his half ass recover points at VOT. If you can get your hands on one of these masterpieces I highly recommend you don't

I see your point, but that is not necessarily true.

I agree it should fit.. and it does. But not all discos are the same. and these bumpers are produced on a jig. If you want to make it fit tight. then be prepared to trim a little here and there. I had to cut my grill to get the winch in, as most people have to do. That doesnt mean the bumper, winch, or grill are of poor quality.
