For a good cheap dinner check out Salases (upstairs) and the best French onion soup go to Yesterdays and nice girls go to 5th element. Fancy martini @ Asteriks. There is Pop and Salvation cafe also. Its much better in the warm weather so goodluck.:patriot:

The Brick Ally Pub is a great restaurant with a very cool atmosphere.

If I remember correctly the Red Parrot is pretty good.

There is another restaurant, I forget the name but its very good and got many awards and recognitions.

If you want to travel out of newport The Coast Guard House is very good. It's located in Naragansett and has some of the best clam chowder I've ever had. There is an inside restaurant and an outside (not now since its winter). Don't eat outside because the price is high, and the food isn't as good, especially since they give you disposable plates and silverware. The inside is much higher class. The Shelter Harbor Inn in Westerly is also very good.

We have a place in RI not too far from Newport.

Oh BTW, in Newport keep your eye out for a Holland & Holland edition Range Rover. There's one that lives there that I've seen a couple times. Aside from the ugly wheels LR put on them its my favorite P38 special editions.

Go see all the mansions. Spend a lot of time downtown. Walk the Cliff Walk. Go see Purgatory Chasm. Go to the Black Pearl restaurant. Go to Flo's Clam Shack (might not be open in winter). Go to Ft. Adams, and drive by Hammersmith Farm. All the good festivals are in the summer... Go to the Brick Alley Pub.

I could go on... my sister lived there for a few years and I visited on many occasions. It's one of my favorite places on the East Coast!

Hey- Welcome to town.

I lived in newport for 4 years and now live just across the bay. Lot's to do in NPT. Check out the Cooke House and on the weekends they have a little club below that's fun in the summer, a little more low key in the winter, but very fun. The Pelham is great for bands, beers....... Brick Alley as mentioned before, O'Brien's Pub (just down thames from Salas), Rhino Bar, etc.. I could go on for a while. Mansions for sure, worth the trip, they are really cool to check out.

email me your details dgrislis@yahoo.com.... there is a small but fun rover crowd in this area and a great shop very close to you if you have your rover with you.

Cheers,
Dave

Oh yeah. Great wings on Thursday nights too. How about Fore Street in Portland.... love the duck and pheasant! I was just there the other night.

Its more goldish/sand, whatever they called it, but I do have a 97 lse. It wasnt in RI. I live in the west end in Portland, Fore street is great, have you been to the Old Port Sea Grill? I work for Bostitch and am down around EG often, its very nice down that way.
