Temp Control Knob D1

Is there a way to remove the black part of the dash around the a/c controls? The knob that controls the driver's (lh) side of the climate control has become stuck at around the 11 o'clock position and won't go al the way to 8 o'clock for full cold. It pumps out anything but nice cold air. Of course, the truck will provide the passenger with soothing ice cold air. Go figure. I haven't tried forcing since it could end up causing a bigger proplem.
