Temp gauge not working

I have a Disco 94 with 178K miles and just have replace the head gasket and resurface the head. I took it to a South Cali shop for $1400.00. Everything is working fine except the temperature gauge. Anyway to fix the gauge? What parts do I have to buy?

The originals are just there for looks.
