It's getting closer to the second annual South Central Area Rover Rally
better known as SCARR. The TexasRover guys have been working very hard
at planning a wonderful event to bring together Land Rover fanatics.
The event is being held on May 13-15th and is at Barnwell Mt. in Gilmer, Texas.

This is shaping up to be a great event. There are many sponsors that have donated great off road gear or gift certificates for you to offset what you really want. Not to mention the fact of just meeting other enthusiasts and having fun on the trails for a weekend.

There are motels just 10 minutes away in Gilmer for those who don't like to camp but we'll have a cord of wood to burn for those who like to sit by the fire.

Of course you can join a Texas Rover club.
TexasRovers has a Dallas/Fort Worth chapter as well as a San Antonio chapter.

They are all a great bunch of guys and enjoy having a good time.
The HLRC http://houstonlandroverclub.com/ joins up with TXROVERS at Barnwell Mt. for work weekends, meetings, & playtimes. We also did a camping trip with some from S.A. at the beginning of the year.

Too bad you're not here yet and can't join us for SCARR.

When are you looking to buy property? Do you have a certain town in mind?

About 50 miles SE of DFW near "cedar Creek lake". We bought it and my wife is more excited thatn a 6 year old on Christmas morning. Its just a lot near a lake Can't recall the name of the nearest town right now. It was a good deal so if it doesn't work out we'll sell and find another.

Her entire family is in Texas and we go there 2-4 times a year. Have to say I like the state and will enjoy living there, but retirement is a few years away. If we like the land we'll start building in about a year.

I'll miss Oregon but not the issues it has. Poor economy, poor funding for law enforcement and schools. Plus no self serve gas!

I'll post or email you guys before our next trip to see if anythings going on. If so I'll tow the rover down behind the motorhome.
