I need to vent haha.

Past 4 Months: Exhaust Leak

Past Month: Whining/moaning when turning right (wheel bearings?)

Yesterday: ABS/TC/HDC 3 Amigos (possibly cause by bad wheel bearings?)

Today: Driving to school, engine temp jumps up and light comes on. Upon inspecting the engine there is no coolant.

Sounds like I really am experiencing the "Land Rover Experience".

How hard is it to make a car reliable? How about just the mechanical aspects. Are they designed just to leak everything? I obviously have some sort of coolant leak. I have a very very small oil leak, not worth fixing at this point in time. I used to leak water because of clogged sunroof drains. I also used to leak air because the interior window seal had slid down. I'm impressed my power steering fluid is hanging in there.

no it sounds like you have ignored your truck until it has big issues.

they donr get low on coolent without the tell tail smell of coolent.

first place to look is on the driver side valve cover...thats where the pre-heater for the throttle body drips.

I have been keeping an eye on the coolant. I had the throttle body heater gasket replaced on a whim. Repair shop couldn't find any other cause, compression was ok and they didn't see anything obvious. I topped off coolant about a week ago. Previously I needed a small top off maybe every month and a half.

Yeah...the LR Experience is tons of fun ;)

Within the past month:
Replaced rear drive shaft
Replaced leaking power steering lines
Rewired Hella lights
Replaced alternator

Still needs to be done:
Unfreeze the CDL linkage
New springs
New radio

But I still wouldn't trade my Land Rovers for any other vehicle:bigok:

yep...no matter how pissed off I get, no matter how bloody my knuckles are, how much I just spent on parts I still wouldn't drive anything else. In fact I just bought another one.

Radiator and hose leaks are really tough to find and diagnose.

After months of replacing every factory hose clamp (you've done this right?) with screw-type clamps, I dug in deep enough to see the leaking water from the plastic sides of the radiator. I've been filling it with 1/2gal of water every few days, really going through the stuff.

After the holidays a new radiator is going in. Do a search, someone has found a supplier for as little as $220.

obviously, you haven't seen how smart this kid in from past posts...:)

Probably smarter than from the (parking lot attendant?) redneck from Alabama "... :)"

I am used to the assholeship of Dweb.

Well I did some looking around. The oil level is significantly above full with the engine cold. I am pretty sure I know what this means.

FUCK

hahaha. that was a joke. yeah, i watched a parking lot in the summer, but the pay was tax free, i sat in a hammock (and slept), and made over a thousand dollars in a month working less than 13 hours a week. i'd say that's pretty legit.

oh and i don't know of any rednecks that have the ability to take the full load of one of the top ten architecture schools in the country. but that's just being a redneck for ya.;)

EDIT: nice grammar there, too, buddy.

Very true (sorry Thom, I had to proofread your sentence :) )

It is interesting that most smells and sounds are better felt and heard with the windows rolled up, fan on low or 2nd low setting, and stereo off.
Another Disco-specific observation - most leaking fluids end up on the rear door window, so a cursory finger swipe is a good maintenance practice.

the real smart ones drive a powerstroke and have no issue's

You hit the nail on the head :applause:. 97 F-350 with 180,000 and one alt. and a couple glow plug relays. Will be doing glow plugs this week though.
