Trooper Kyle Deatherage was struck and killed by a tractor trailer while making a traffic stop on I-55, at mile marker 62, near Litchfield.

Trooper Deatherage was killed 8 days after heading home from a mutual aid deployment at the Jersey Shore. I personally didn't have a chance to meet him, as the Illinois boys were stationed south of me. Louisiana, Mississippi, and Rhode Island State Troopers were deployed in my area, and we welcomed their efforts, along with members of the NJ National guard, who are still activated, and assigned to the area.
