Of course, there had to !

After the provicial MOT check up, I now have to change all of the brake lines because they are copper ones. COPPER, who uses copper for brake lines ? Here we go in the flairing process.

I realize it is not such a big job, but after waiting for over a month toget the truck here, I just cant wait to wheel it !

Well at least you have the truck! :)

I've been meaning to ask: how much of a visual inspection was there by customs in Halifax? Did they check for matching VINs or just look at your paperwork? No I'm not thinking about pulling a fast one, but I do wonder how long and involved I should expect that process to be.

Also, you could have had it shipped up the St. Lawrence all the way to Quebec, right? What's the advantage of doing the customs in Halifax, or is it just cost?

- Andrew.

P.S. Let's see some photos!

First off, I was not present when the truck was offloaded so I can't say anything about that. But I know someone was there because of a sticker in windshield. Also someone from Agricuture Canada was there to inspect it also cause they asked for it to be steam cleaned.

As for paperwork, I just showed up with the bill of sale, the bill of laden (given by the carrier), proper I.D. and cash.

To ship it up the St-Laurence would be quite costly, because that means you would have to offload it from one boat and load it back to an other, plus the whole customs thing would be a nightmare.

Actually......

http://www.automec.co.uk/frame_set.html

Very common as a replacement on British vehicles to find Automec lines. Actually, they're quite good... the reason they went away from copper is expense (costs more than steel). Easier to install, but you have to be cautious about fatiguing the metal if you bend it too many times.

But, it isn't DOT -approved. Of course, neither are E-code lights, and they're superior to DOT lights. FWIW....

First question for you, where are the pictures?

Second, how hard is it for me to get Canadian citezenship, I am a US citizen with no criminal background if that helps?

Third, how did you find your Defender?

And congrats on the new truck, should be fun.

Are you sure they are really copper and not just copper coated steel? They can look the same without close inspection...either scraping with a knife (down to the steel), or checking with a magnet.
