Off Road?

What did you think?

Didn't drive it myself, but the Rovers North folks showed up at the Maine Winter Romp with their company Evoque. They confirmed it's very nice to drive on road, but it's definitely not ever going to be an off-roader.

Biggest thing that screams mall crawler to me? It has cameras in the corners of the lower bumper/air dam below the white portion of the front bumper...no doubt they'll be the first things destroyed the first time someone tries to really leave the pavement.

I've driven one, not off road. It's very comfortable and surprisingly quick. Apparently it also gets great mileage. I'd love to have one as a DD, but it's barely more useful than an Impreza and well over twice the price.

I was at the Atlanta Auto Show and wanted to sit in it to see if the visibility sucked as much as it appears to from the outside, but they had it roped off. The woman there said it's not too bad, and there's always the 5 camera system for better visibility. That's what I want, a car that requires a $4500 option package so I can see what's around me.

Tom, I would agree with the "woman there," it's surprisingly good. Front visibility is definitely more car-like than any other rover product, e.g. you don't see the edge of the hood from the driver's seat. Rear visibility looks like it's going to be a disaster before you get in, but it's better than the rear visibility out of my disco with a flipped tire carrier and a 32" tire on the door.

I would say it's exactly the same as an Accord sedan, or a Camry, or anything like that. It is a car after all.

i saw one on the highway over the weekend.
looks like a shoe.
and not a shoe I'd wear, more like one of those over-sized things kids wear that apparently can't be laced properly or tied.
driven by a plastic barbie, of course.
i was sad to see "range rover" on it.
