What you need to do before buying one is put your hand in a meat grinder and take a tall stack of Benjamin's and burn them. This will be far less painful than P38 ownership.

Have a beer then go take a piss.Everything works fine and life is good. Now think about having a beer then going to take a piss after you shoved a thermometer up your dickhole and smashed it with a hammer. This will give you some insight into buying a P38.

Don't listen to them! I have one for sale that is way better than that high mileage time bomb in the craigslist ad.

It's a 30th Anniversary edition 2001 in whatever green it's called, with color-matched bumpers and trim. 95,000 miles only. Engine is in beautiful shape, runs perfectly. EAS functions fine, recently replaced air bags. Includes a Hawkeye diagnostic computer licensed to this truck.

Interior has some wear spots, but it's complete.

I've been driving this thing around for the last month and if someone doesn't buy it I might end up keeping it.

$6,000.

Meh had a holland and holland. Loved it, sold it, regretted it. Then bought a l322. Kinda forgot about ever liking the p38. Pay attention to the maintenance and they are not bad trucks. Make sure it has good maintenance records or history.

Still wish I could have bought the Holland and Holland. That may be the P38 that does me in...

The last year P38 was made: 2002.
Current year: 2012
Time span manufacturers stock parts for a car: 10 years

Get used to seeing these letters: NLA

How long will dealers keep the equipment to, for example, program keys? Diagnose or reset the ECUs? The proprietary stuff will make you suffer.

No thanks.

The H&H is doing even better now but it still ate a bunch of cash recently.

I understand the parts thing, but why would you ever take a P38 to a dealership?

I'm still diggin ours and plan to keep it up and running.

I genuinely would rather have a Freelander.

Solid axle conversion! It's the Sammy of Rovers...but nobody has done it, to my knowledge. We had a freelancer come thru the shop and the guy actually fixed it against our recommendation. Nice one too, I love the sport buckets and removable top. The freelander, after solid axles and motor swap would be a lot more funner than a P38. Shit you could buy 5 freelanders as parts trucks for the price of everything the P38 is going to need in the next year after buying it...people that maintain their P38 that well only get rid of it when they know the next big $$$ hit is upon them. Or they just get tired of feeling like they need to eject every time they put the key in the ignition waking up the over excited audible warning and alert system! those dings and chimes should be followed by EJECT EJECT EJECT!!!!!!

The P38 is like a new Audi, have fun with it and sell it two months before the warranty is up.

Warranty is up on every P38 out there so doesn't really matter. 5 freelanders and axles? Seriously.

Good to hear. I saw one (h&h) last time I was up in Denver (littleton)in may, it had nasty 22"s and some funky paint matched trim pieces that were peeling.
