Three lights came on...99 D2 with SLS

Just driving along normally and my ABS, TC, and SLS light came on with a single ding (I think it was a single ding). A few weeks ago, I removed the rear air bags, the hoses, and the compressor and the system alerted me with a lovely light. I replaced the old rear SLS airbags with springs and had the dealer shut off the SLS light

Shutting off the car made the lights go away - for about five minutes.

I didnt see anything in the owners manual that described "combinations" of lights to indicate some sort of failure or problem.

Any thoughts? Truck seems to be running fine as far as I can tell.

One Of Two Things Happened. One Is The Lights Came Because You May Have A Faulty Sensor Or Two The Computer May Have Set Back To Air Suspension Again, And Is Turning On The Lights Because You Now Have Coil Spring
May The Force Be With You :)

.......The three amigos....... Mine are on too, for about 3 weeks now. I've done a lot of research... Either the right front ABS hub sensor or your ABS modulator. You don't want it to be the modulator... About 12-1500 to replace. The sensor I've priced about 80 bucks. Right now your ABS is not functioning. Your truck will run fine, but you won't have ABS. I've talked to people on EE that have just taken out the light?? Welcome to the wonderful world, that is Land Rover...

when the warranty runs out, these lights come on telling you to go to the dealer and give them all your money to try a fix a problem that never goes away. or just leave the lights on and pull the fuse under the hood disabling ABS.

I've got a 2000 d2 converted to coil springs. I converted to coil springs months ago and havent removed my sls height sensors(have them zip tied parallel to the ground) or any sls equipment other than airbags. From what i've read, it appears that sls can cause the 3 amigos to come on sometimes. Could this be my problem? they always reset after i shut off and restart. think its about time to get my sls turned off..lol

I have a 2001 DII that I converted to coil springs also. My 3 amigos started before the coversion and come around quite often.

When the 3 amigos appear does that disable those 3 functions? I haven't had used the TC or the Hill Descent function yet but think they would be nice to have when/if I get to use them. If it doesn't disable them then pulling the bulbs make since if not then I quess I need to find the problem. When I had the 97000 mile service they said I had no codes but it continues to ding and then the 3 amigos appear.

What do the Disco Gods think?

If I'd know about this condition in advance I'd have put an ARB in the front too instead of the TT. Though mine isn't a dedicated crawler. :)

Yes, all 3 systems are disabled. No codes? Who checked it? The SLABS codes will not be picked up by an OBDII code reader. Testbook required, unfortunately. Are the three lights on continously, or do they come and go?

Have you recently done a brake job? Sometimes aftermarket brakes will do it too. Seems that the friction on some pads can create a harmonic vibration that will affect the sensors and cause the amigos to appear. Personally I always use OEM pads although I'm running DBA rotors. So far so good!

Good Luck,

Mike

ps do a search on "the three amigos" here. Tons of info.

I had this problem one year ago on my DII 2003. Problem was front right sensor. My firend had it also and problem was in ABS wires. After fixing no problem any more on both DII.

When I had the 97,000 mile service the dealer checked it and told me there were no codes but told me that my brakes were worn beyond serviceable limits and at the time the lights were coming and going.

I have since replaced the brakes (rotors and pads on each wheel) with aftermarket from AB (don't remember which ones, but I have the receipt if I need to find out). Still have the 3 amigos come and go. It has came on while driving without touching the brakes but it mostly comes on while braking.

I read on here the other day about a mod to the ABS wires and I am planning to check them and do if needed.
