I have a 04 Disco and its running like shit . The codes come up as misfire on cylinders 4 and 7 . I changed the wires and plugs for the hell of it , what a bitch ! Still the same codes , even after clearing them. Any Input would be great .

How many miles on the truck? (When has anyone actually seen a coil pack go bad?) I have my orginals with 180k on the truck...

I would guess leaking HG fouling plugs IMO before I went for CP's. Run the tests for a bad HG before suspecting coil packs...just my 02.

I'm having some of the same issues. Wouldn't you notice anything on the plugs themselves when pulled? Just curious.

The engine has 59k on it . I put the wires on without removing the plenum. There is a way ! Since yesterday I cleared the codes, but now have NO 7 misfire only. The check engine light comes on sooner and blinks . What the FUCK !

another question...have you tested your alternator to see what it's reading? wondering if maybe the alternator isn't going out, but at 60k I've never had one go out. Take your multimeter and start tracing. Could be you may have a loose connection or a bad ground?

In the bunker
I just had a coil go out.
I had been getting an intermittant misfire on #2. It had been ages since the last tune & the valve cover gaskets were leaking as well, so I pulled the plenum & did the plugs, wires, & gaskets routine. I wasn't positive my misfire was a plug or wire problem because it was so intermittant. And, being a waste spark ignition system, I thought if I had a coil causing a miss on a clinder (2), it should also miss on the companion cylinder (5). Since I had the coils off, I decided to swap them in case the miss was still there. When I put it back together, the miss moved to cylinder #1-the same tower that had been #2 before.
I pulled the plenum again & replaced both coils, just in case the other one were to fail in a month or two.
By the way, pulling the plemun isn't really that bad of a job.
